On Wednesday March 27, our hearts shattered as our friend, Candace Hawkins, was ripped away from us. Many knew Candace as a talented chef and she was often described as “Sunshine” because her smile truly lit up any room she was in. Then there were the few who knew her better than friends, and considered her a sister. Candace loved to share golf, travel, baseball, music and drinks with those closest to her. Of all who loved her, only one was able to call her home. Candace and Lexi have spent years living together- She was not only a part of Lexi’s household, but her family as well. Her two children- Frankie and Stone- were raised with Candace as a part of their every day routine. This loss has without a doubt has tipped their world upside down. Losing Candace has left a huge void, not only emotionally but also financially. We created this account to raise funds for Lexi to help support the financial burden left by Candace’s passing as she continues to wade through her grief. She now bears the responsibility of cleaning out Candace’s belongings (a monumental task in itself), helping both herself and her children heal, and continuing to work every day as a gifted Special Educator and student tutor as a sole income provider. Funds will be used towards the monthly income lost, and towards household expenses and groceries so the burden is lessened while they wade through these first months alone.
