Lifting up DJ Slice & Family

work wife/auntie" etc.) if ya know, ya know! I'm calling on all of the Positive People Squad!!!! #TLWPV

DJ Slice was admitted to the hospital on 4/24/22 with severe pain. On Friday, Stevie B called Slice to do a private show in Miami. As Slice was flying, he was in significant pain, began shaking, felt nauseous, and was sweating. He landed, went to his hotel, took some over-the-counter medicine, got sick and laid down. He went and performed like a true professional, flew home, and drove straight to the hospital. They admitted him right away as his vitals were all elevated, was septic and was told his kidneys were failing. He had a perforated colon with diverticulitis. The Doctors said had Slice waited 12 more hours, he would have died!

The Surgeons removed 12 inches of his colon as it was severely diseased, and his lower intestines were paralyzed. Unfortunately, he needed to receive the colostomy bag, which is a complicated process mentally and physically to adjust to. He has a tube down his nose, entering his throat, into his stomach to extract its contents because he will vomit and choke. He is on oxygen 24/7, pelvic drains, pain medicines, IVs, and monitoring in the PACU as the surgeons were too concerned to have him in the ICU unit since they didn't want Slice to pick up an infection from that floor.

The Doctors said Slice would be out of work for 2 months, and Mrs. Slice would also be taking off work (unpaid) to care for him while he gets situated learning this new way of life. This is a huge adjustment as they have 3 daughters and a disabled Grandfather at home, since Slice is the primary caregiver to him. Bills will still pile up while they are out of work to temporarily manage this. As we told Slice today in the hospital, he was so stressed about bills and the future. Even though he wants to continue working, he must follow the doctor's orders to continue to heal and begin a healthy new life, which he is BEYOND grateful to have right now! Both DJ Slice and Mrs. Slice are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support from everyone!!! It's time to lift up the man that has done so much to lift up SO MANY people for so long!!!!
