Hello everyone,
I created this GoFundMe for my best friend, Claudia (Clau) Pendergrass, who is not only a cancer survivor but also one of the strongest and most resilient people I know.
Earlier this year, Claudia was diagnosed with colon cancer just one week after losing her father. Despite this devastating news, we were able to celebrate her 35th birthday before she underwent a successful surgery to remove the cancer.
What was supposed to be a quick five-day recovery turned into a difficult month-long hospital stay. There were setbacks, additional procedures, and many sleepless nights, but Claudia showed the incredible strength we all know and love about her. She pushed through every challenge and was finally able to go home. She had just enough time to rest and recharge for a few weeks before starting chemotherapy.
This whole experience has taken Claudia away from the things that bring her the most joy: her job, being there for her son’s school events, working out at the gym, teaching self-defense classes, and her participation in the Girls in Gi’s program. These are the things that light her up and make her feel fulfilled. Not being able to do them has been hard, but she’s staying as positive as she can.
On top of everything else, the financial strain from her extended hospital stay and ongoing treatment has added another layer of stress to an already difficult time.
The goal is set at $500 knowing that every bit helps and goes a long way in easing the financial burden Claudia is facing. While this amount won’t cover all her medical expenses or the costs associated with her recovery, it’s a meaningful way to support her during this tough time. Your kindness—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser—will make a difference and help Claudia focus on what matters most: healing and being with her family.
Thank you for taking the time to read Claudia’s story and for your kindness and support. It truly makes a difference and reminds her that she’s not facing this alone.
With gratitude,
Madyson
*We raised the goal as some were having issues donating at a lower amount. Please let me know if you have any questions!
