Hi, my name is William Ley, and I am fundraising for a dear friend who is in urgent need of help. Her name is Meioka Blackmon of Dallas, Texas. Ms. Blackmon worked for me some 10 years ago and was truly remarkable. She is a tireless worker, ran a second business online all the while taking care of her mother, raising her then 11-year-old daughter and tending to her brother's health issues. She has given everything into keeping her family afloat. Today, Meioka is a 46-year-old single mother, daughter and sister who has unselfishly helped her mother survive after a serious health issue, took care of her brother who broke his hip in a fall and makes a living as a barber. He lost his income and Meioka took care of him for 6 months, bathed him and even paid for his surgery. She has educated her daughter to an elite status, graduating Summe Cum Laude and third in her high school class of 1,000 students.
In 2020, Meioka lost her job after a 10-year run due to Covid layoffs. She sold everything including TV's, her new refrigerator, her car, her clothing and shoes, furniture, all to keep the family going. She unselfishly put her family's needs above her own. She was able tp pay her rent while looking for a new job. She landed a job in Information Technology and has been employed ever since. In 2021 Meioka was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She has also been a lifelong asthma sufferer. Despite being a college athlete at the University of Houston in Track, she has struggled to maintain her health. In 2022 she saved a down payment to buy a small condominium to mover her daughter, mother and brother into in a Dallas suburb.
Recently, she was having trouble breathing and developed a nagging cough. Attributing it to her asthma, she continued to work. Three weeks ago, on November 27th, Meioka had to be rushed to the hospital. She was tremendously short of breath. She was in real trouble, struggling to hang on. Doctors tested her and found she had somehow contracted mold and it had invaded her lungs. They immediately operated on her and proceeded to vacuum out her lungs. She remained in a dream like state for a week. Upon treatment, doctors were still not sure about her condition. She needed another procedure on her lungs last week to treat her condition. Mold can kill you. My wife almost died from a mold invasion 30 years ago. It can get into your system and eat away at arteries, causing blood loss. Mold is everywhere but some people are more susceptible to it than others. Her diagnosis right now is poor but slowly improving. It will take a few months to rid her lungs of this awful substance. Her family is struggling right now because Meioka is the only source of income, other than her mother's contribution of $600 a month from Social Security.
The Blackmon family needs financial help right now. Meioka remains in the hospital, crying daily, not getting good rest and struggling to breath. She is truly depressed. I am trying to raise funding for her and her family during Christmas to pay for her mortgage, light bill and heating for the next 3 months, January through March. If we can give her this time to heal, they can get back to trying to survive again as a family. MEIOKA NEEDS THIS TIME TO HEAL. Giving her 3 months of house and home will provide her with peace of mind and allow her to focus on healing. If we can't get this done, the entire family goes down with her.
Please be generous in giving to her and her family. 100% of all funds will go directly to paying her mortgage, light bill and heating bill. This keeps them in their home. Please give whatever you can give. If you are wealthy and you can give a large amount, we will get to our goal quickly. This is a woman who deserves Grace. God Bless you for giving. She is a Christian woman, just so you know. Her prayers are filled with tears and worry. Let's provide for her with a generous gift. Love you all for giving. Every donation counts so please take a moment and donate. Merry Christmas !
