Impacting Lives Through Fishponds

Hello! My name is Hannah Duraipandian.

At my church, several volunteers were chosen for a Kingdom Assignment. I felt moved to volunteer. We were given $200 each to use for God’s work, and if possible multiply the impact.

For my Kingdom Assignment, I chose to provide fishponds to families in poverty through World Vision, because of the lasting impact it has.

World Vision is a worldwide Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to lifting people out of poverty and injustice. God’s love is shared through their various programs, missions and church partnerships in countless ways. Among their many projects, I believe that a fishpond would be the most impactful way to bless a family in poverty.

When a fishpond is gifted through World Vision, a family receives a small loan and training to build an earthen pond. It is stocked with a fast-growing fish like tilapia, and they are taught how to fish and maintain the pond. A family will be able to eat what they catch, and selling the fish provides money for buying food, clothes and sending their children to school. They can also help or train other families to start a fish pond.

One fishpond costs $240. With the Kingdom funds given, I was able to gift 1 fish pond to a family.

I firmly believe that providing this gift to more families would have a bigger impact, and create an awareness about World Vision and their mission.

By God’s grace abundant grace, my original goal was reached, and after prayerful consideration, I increased the goal to 15 fishponds. This page will be open until April 20.
