Alison's Elevator Reno
Fundraising has been my life's work for quite some time. As a young ambassador for my favourite kids rehabilitation hospital and currently a foundation staff member, I am a firm believer in the power of community and giving. That said, I have resisted personally fundraising for myself for quite some time.
A few years ago, my husband and I built a home in my parent's basement but due to high costs and some challenges along the way, we ran out of funds to install a new elevator/lift that will provide a more secure point of access to the house as well as independence and a private entrance. My current stair lift is 20+ years old and any repairs become costly- it is no longer reliable.
Funding resources from the government and local municipality are scarce/non existent and our modest incomes make us ineligible. We also do not qualify for March of Dimes (the only provincial home/vehicle modification program). We have reached out to some local volunteer groups and hope to get some support for this project.
In November 2016, we welcomed our first baby so the urgency for making this renovation happen soon is high. The price of the unit plus extra required renovations as a result are extremely costly. We want to create a safe and accessible space for our new baby and any help in doing so is greatly appreciated.
Any money received will to funding the elevator unit and renovation.
Many thanks for any support you can give.
