Lift Up Maalik and His Family

On Sunday, July 7, anyone who has had the honor of knowing Maalik Camp was devastated as news traveled that he had been the victim of a shooting at the Dollar General where he worked in north Birmingham. 

A beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, grandson, and G.W. Carver classmate and student, Maalik is known for his  brilliant mind, talented voice (see video above), and above all his kind smile and huge heart. 

Set to attend Alabama State University in the fall, his tuition and the majority of his fees are covered from academic and choral scholarships. This tragedy has affected a young man who literally would never harm a fly. Although he faces huge hurdles as he recuperates, we know Maalik is going to come through this stronger and even more determined than ever to continue his success and share his talents. That is just who Maalik Camp is.

At a time where many of us feel helpless, we want to gather support for his family so that they may care for Maalik during this nightmare. Maalik's family will have to take much time away from work as he recovers, and we want them to be able to love and nurture Maalik without financial worries. His family and all those who love him would greatly appreciate any financial assistance you can give at this time.
