Lindsay had a cardiac arrest while at home and has been hospitalized since October 23, 2019. There have been many times during this last month when it looked like Lindsay would not make it out of the hospital, let alone make it home.
Thanks to all of you for your constant prayers. Many of them have been answered. Lindsay is now stable and ready to leave the hospital, but she will need some intensive rehabilitation.
Our health insurance states that there is a “COGNITIVE EXCLUSION” in Lindsay’s policy through the county. The insurance company WILL NOT PAY for all her needed therapy. At this point we don’t know what they will pay for, but they have agreed to admit her to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE for INPATIENT REHAB THERAPY on Monday, November 25.
The insurance company doesn’t know her, nor do they know what Lindsay is capable of accomplishing. The insurance company has made this decision based on her policy, not her needs. A representative from the insurance company has not even come to see Lindsay to see how much she has improved and progressed.
It is hard, extremely hard, for me to ask for help but I refuse to give up on Lindsay. I will be transparent and provide as much information with regards to Lindsay’s status. I want to share with you some of the cost of the treatment for a better understanding of our need.
* Lindsay’s insurance policy out of pocket is $12,500.
* Speech therapy is not be covered by insurance. Costs a minimum of $500 daily.
* There is housing at Madonna and they allow one person to say with her. Right now, I am planning on staying with her as long as my presence is a benefit to her recovery.
* There will be weekly travel expenses between Lincoln and our home in Troy, KS, plus hotel for our girls.
* Having her girls around should speed her recovery.
*We have received figures that Lindsay’s inpatient care will cost approximately $200,000 a month. At this point we do not know how much will be covered by insurance. We do know that they will not cover anything considered Cognitive Therapy such as Speech which Madonna plans to do at least 2 times per day.
I remain optimistic and hopeful that Lindsay will not require more than 8 weeks of therapy. I can assure those who donate that ANY FUNDS leftover, after completion of her treatment, will be donated to another member of the community in need.
