Help Phyllis & Paul Get Back Home.

On Tuesday May 15th, My wife Phyllis drove her School Bus loaded with precious cargo into the small hamlet of Narrowsburg NY. Severe storms with tornadic activity had just wrecked havoc in our area and school dismissal had been delayed to allow the storms to pass and keep the children safe. Many roads were closed and impassable due to hundreds of downed trees and power lines and the journey home took much longer than usual. As Phyllis ended her run she passed our home en route to the bus depot. She couldn't see our house which is usually quite visible from the road. She quickly parked and secured her school bus and hurried home to discover two huge trees from the neighbors yard had fallen on our small house. I got a call at work and heard Phyllis sobbing like I never heard her cry before. All I could make out was 'It's Gone, It's Gone, We have no house! " The call dropped and I couldn't reach her back. I ran out of work about 20 miles away and was amazed at the devastation and destruction I saw along the way. I knew Phyllis was safe but I was worried about our little dog and my neighbors. After almost 2 hours of driving around fallen trees and downed power lines I made it home to find my house completely hidden from view. 2 large trees had smashed through the roof and also destroyed my deck. My outdoor shed was torn to shreds and it's contents blown in every corner of my little acre. My yard looked like a battlefield . As I ran to my wife I noticed my little dog in the back of her car. My wonderful neighbor Geoffrey had ventured into the house to rescue my little Sable. I hugged my wife and just stood there in shock, amazed at the destruction in front of me. I felt so bad for my wife. She had survived a rough ride with Kidney Cancer and has spent the last 3 years nursing me back to health after a horrendous car accident almost left me paralyzed. I knew I had all that really mattered to me in my arms and tried to reassure my wife that all will be OK but I knew it was going to be a long road to recovery if even possible. I was caught WITHOUT INSURANCE on my house. There are many reasons for this stupidity and I alone am to blame but how am I going to recover. My recent accident and the expenses associated from Phyllis's surgery to remove a kidney has left us with nothing in the bank to fall back on. Somehow we need to repair our home. So far our community has been kind and our families have helped us as much as they could but as proud as we are, there is no other way through this other than to ask our friends and family for help. I know that everyone is going through their own trials but even a $5 donation would be greatly appreciated more than you know. Our immediate need is to have someone remove the trees from our home. This requires some special equipment and is very expensive. Then we need to hire a builder to reconstruct our roof and replace our shattered window frames, doors and deck. After that we need an electrician to install new incoming service mast and replace our panel boxes. This will all cost more than I can handle right now. We are currently living in motels as the house is not habitable. I have taken out a loan and have maxed out my credit cards but we need help to get back on our feat. If you can't help financially I completely understand but I do ask you to please keep us, and the others affected by this tragedy in your prayers. Thank you for your support.
Paul, Phyllis and little Sable.
