Bio:
After graduating from St. Joseph Catholic School, Tamrat went to Russia for higher education and then lived in Germany for a few years. He later settled in Ethiopia working in the private sector until he lost his job a few months ago.
Unexpected illness:
Almost a month ago Tamrat had a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a bleeding in the area between the brain and the thin tissues that cover the brain that became life threatening. Because of the lack of sufficient medical facility to handle such a case in Ethiopia, Tamrat was forced to be airlifted to Nairobi, Kenya for medical care. Since then Tamrat has been in ICU at Aga Khan University Hospital.
With the help of God and the immediate medical care he has gotten, improvement in his health condition has come but slowly. His current condition is as such that he still is dependent on mechanical ventilation forcing him to stay in ICU. He has undergone a Tracheostomy – placement of a Trachea device to assist him in his breathing while continuing to try and wean him off the ventilation.
Meanwhile his medical bill has been piling up, which so far has surpassed USD $62,000 out of which $37,000 USD thousand dollars have been covered by the family and friends. Tamrat’s extended hospital stay and outpatient rehabilitation costs is expected to be over USD $100,000 beyond the family and friend contribution. We are appealing to friends, family and everyone who are willing to help with any amount they can.

This campaign was initiated and organized by Tamrat’s close family and friends living in Ethiopia, Canada and US. Ashenafi Tamrat, old and close friend of Tamrat, living in Virginia, US, has been assigned to setup the campaign and be the organizer.
How the fund is intended to be withdrawn and delivered to Tamrat's care:
As of now, due to logistics difficulties and Tamrat’s condition, the fund will be withdrawn by the organizer, Ashenafi, it then will be sent to Tamrat’s younger sister, Helena K, account in Canada. Helena (Mimi) is currently in Kenya and involved in the day to day care of Tamrat. She is the next of keen who is being consulted by Tamrat’s medical team for any treatment and procedure. Helena is also the one who has been dealing and making the payment of his medical bills and any other financial needs. The other option that is being looked at is making the payment directly to the hospital, Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi.
