Lift Off: Orrin's Aircraft Maintenance License Journey

Hello everyone,

My name is Noah, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Orrin Merelos from the Philippines. Orrin and I first met during our LDS missions in Foley, Alabama, where we served together as missionaries. Now, I'm honored to share Orrin's inspiring journey and ask for your support in his next chapter.

Orrin comes from a humble background, raised alongside six siblings. Despite financial challenges, Orrin was blessed with a supportive family who prioritized his education. However, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Orrin had to pause his studies to help support his family. He worked tirelessly to ensure there was food on the table, bills were paid, and the necessities of life were met.

Despite these obstacles, Orrin's determination and dedication never wavered. He returned to his studies with vigor, ultimately graduating with flying colors from a 2 year program in aircraft maintenance technology at RACVE AMTS. Now, Orrin's next goal is to obtain his license as an aircraft maintenance technician. This achievement would not only fulfill his personal aspirations but also open doors to a promising career that can support his family and uplift his community.

Growing up in the province, Orrin experienced the realities of life firsthand—learning to grow rice, harvesting coconuts for oil, and fishing in the sea. These experiences shaped his perspective on the importance of education in breaking the cycle of hardship and gang activity that he experienced in his youth. Orrin decided to become something more and overcame these things through resilience and faith.

After serving a selfless mission and working hard to support his family, Orrin emerged as a beacon of hope and inspiration in his community. Despite setbacks, including financial struggles that prevented him from completing his studies earlier, Orrin persevered. Now, as he stands on the brink of achieving his dreams, he needs our help.
