Hello, my name is Keith Clark. I live in Dacula, GA, northeast of Atlanta. I am raising funds for a friend of mine who has fallen on some hard times due to a diagnosis of colon cancer. His name is Edgar "EYGPT" Robinson. He currently lives in New Jersey.
We grew up together and are more like brothers than friends. You would never know this dude grew up in a little country town in Hatten/Hebron, MS, though, as he is all New York through and through. The lingo, the dress, the charisma! But he's still a country boy...lol. Knowing Eygpt (his preferential name) the way I do, he would never ask anyone for a dime. He is a very proud man and has worked hard for what he has, all his life. He is a giver before ever being a receiver.
That is why it is as painstaking for me to write this as it is to see him sick for the last 9 months. Since being diagnosed with cancer, he has not been able to work since the latter part of 2024. He has been battling radiation and chemotherapy treatments since last December, if not November. That in itself took a toll on his body, but during the following months, he has had to go back and have surgeries to remove part of his colon and small intestine. He has also had to go back for further surgeries due to abscesses.
Nevertheless, he hasn't been able to perform any kind of professional work to keep up with his bills, as it takes all his strength to try and recuperate and deal with the pain right now. A major part of the pain is worry, worrying about insurmountable bills. Therefore, he has fallen behind on his mortgage by 3 months, and he can't make the other utilities payment either due to trying to keep the roof over his head. I can tell you that worrying about bills does not help you recuperate faster. In fact, it can lengthen your recovery, if not sabotage it altogether.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't want this help from anyone. Under normal circumstances, as a licensed insurance agent, I would definitely not advocate for a GoFundMe campaign. We agents know that having proper protection can guard against situations like this one. A properly funded Long Term Care/Terminal Illness/Chronic Illness/Critical Illness policy would give you the funds to provide for your bills during dire times. So please see a licensed agent about those policies so that if you become ill, you won't have these worries.
And finally, let's contribute to help Edgar "EYGPT" Robinson get a little relief and focus on healing rather than worrying. Eygpt is the son of "Big Sista" and Shadrack Robinson, grandson of Ed and Jeanette Thomas of the Hatten/Hebron, MS community, where he attended Old Palestine Missionary Baptist Church while growing up. He is an alumnus of West Jones High School, a proud Mustang indeed. But Eygpt has friends all over Mississippi, other states, and other countries. Let us raise our brother up in our contributions to his health by sharing a little wealth so he can get better!
The funds will go towards approximately $6K in back mortgage payments and bills. The other $10K will hopefully be enough to get him through the next 5-6 months where he will officially have beaten cancer and ready to return to the work force.
All contributions are appreciated and thanks in advance.
