Liffey Descent 2024 for Cancer Trials Ireland
Back in November 2023 I contacted my good friend Graham Buggy for some advice with doing the Liffey Descent (as I had about 2% experience in paddling). Graham being the legend he is took me out on the canal and showed me the ropes. He must of been at bit concerned with my technique and said he would do the race with me (thank god!)
Since Nov 2023 we have covered +70km training at Celbridge Paddlers and can’t wait to get in the boat for the race!
The race will take place on Saturday 11th May 2024 along the iconic 32km route, tackling 10 weirs and taking in the stunning scenery Counties Kildare and Dublin have to offer. The race begins at 12:00pm from the world famous K Club in County Kildare, tracing the most spectacular sections of the River Liffey to finish at the Garda boat Club in Islandbridge, Dublin.
Why you ask? We are doing this as part of Nestle Irelands fundraising for Cancer Trials Ireland, which is a charity very close to our hearts.
