Life with Dash - needs help

Donation protected
My name is Shea, and my best friend is a 7month old Golden Retriever named Dash.

I remember picking the little guy up for the first time like it was yesterday. I knew immediately that he was the one. I loved him, more than I had ever loved a creature before.

Dash was mine. And I was his. The adventures began.

And I fell more and more in love.

The feeling was mutual.

I mean, people. LOOK AT THIS BABE!

And then Dash grew up to be this DOG. This dog that I adore with all of my heart. All of it.

Dash loves to run and play and jump and chase and chew and kiss and eat yummy food and watch everything. But a few weeks ago... my little boy started having trouble getting around.

He started refusing to walk up or down the stairs. He no longer raced to meet me at the door when I got home. He stopped jumping on the couch to snuggle next to me. He had a hard time getting up and sitting down. One night he seemed to be in extreme pain. We took him to the ER, and that's when we heard the scary words for the first time: "possible hip dysplasia".

Hip Dysplasia is a genetic disorder in dogs that basically causes a bone malfunction at the hip joints. Dash was given medicine to handle the pain. And the next week, we took a trip to our vet for X-Rays. The images confirmed: HIP DYSPLASIA.

Yesterday, I had a consultation meeting with a Ortho Specialist referred by our vet.

Dash is in need of a Total Hip Replacement in the next three months. The surgery alone costs $5800.00, and that doesn't include the hospital stay and medicine he will need while in recovery.

I have been on the constant verge of tears for weeks. Dash needs this surgery. His life will be miserable without it. He is my best friend. He is so sweet and kind and playful and happy. It breaks my heart to see him like this. I know he would love nothing more than to join his friends at the dog park, but his hips make it impossible.

He is 7 months old. He is just a baby. My baby. And he is too young to be suffering the way he is. He is too young for his days of adventure and joy to be over. Please donate to help him. It's funny how animals can steal your heart, but mine now resides in Dash. And it has for what seems like forever.

I love Dash. And I know you would love him too. With your help he can live a long, wonderful life full of kissing strangers, snuggling with his mom, and making everyone he meets feel special and adored.
