The Day Big Red Stopped Rolling
Every morning, as the Big Red Bus rumbled into the school parking lot, a chorus of excited voices would echo through the halls —
“It’s LifeWise Day!”
Big Red was more than just a bus. She was a symbol of joy and faith.
She carried 15–20 smiling students at a time to the LifeWise classroom — a place filled with songs about Jesus, prayers for their classmates, and lessons that shaped hearts and built character. There, children discovered new Bible stories, practiced scripture through games, and learned how to live out their faith in everyday life.
And when the lesson was done, Big Red faithfully brought them back to school — ready to share what they had learned, ready to shine their light.
Week after week, over 300 students found joy, hope, and truth aboard Big Red.
But on Wednesday, October 8, that joy came to a sudden halt.
As Big Red waited to pull out and pick up the first class of the day, a truck veered off Route 109 and crashed into her — leaving her twisted and broken, and injuring the LifeWise team members inside.
By God’s grace, everyone survived. But Big Red — the beloved bus that carried the message of Jesus to hundreds of young hearts — was lost.
Her bright red frame may be gone, but her mission is not.
Now, we’re asking for your help to keep the wheels of LifeWise turning.
Our goal is to raise the funds needed to replace Big Red with two 15-passenger mini buses — so that every child who waits with excitement on LifeWise Day can continue to learn, sing, and grow in God’s Word.
Big Red carried joy to the children of Patrick Henry every week.
Will you help carry her mission forward?
