Dear friends, family, and compassionate individuals, my name is Jada Askew and I am fundraising for my lovely mother, Meiko who was recently diagnosed with end-stage heart failure.

We need your help to make a life-changing transition for Mom who is a vibrant soul with a free spirit. In January 2024, her doctors recommended relocating to Chicago, Illinois for a bloodless heart transplant at the University of Chicago. Though my mother was diagnosed with heart failure years ago, her heart suddenly deteriorated to pumping only at 14% - end-stage heart failure. The doctors emphasized Mom had a small window to receive a heart. Time was of the essence!

Unfortunately, after two weeks of testing, my Mother was notified that she did not qualify for a donor heart due to pre-natal antibodies. As you can imagine, this devastated both Mom and our entire family including our spiritual family. Thanks to Jehovah God, there was another lifesaving option - Left Ventricle Assistant Device (L-VAD).

On March 8, 2024, mom was informed that the open-heart surgery would take place on March 11, 2024. We all agreed that this procedure was necessary however, we also agreed that things were moving fast.

We have set up this GoFundMe campaign to raise $60,000 to cover Mom's living expenses for 18 months in Chicago as she continues to receive treatment and recover.

Relocating to Chicago is not just a necessity; it's an opportunity for Mom to receive the best medical care available. This city boasts world-class hospitals and a renowned program that specializes in bloodless cardiac procedures.

This procedure offers Mom hope for a healthier and more fulfilling life in her service to her God, Jehovah. The financial burden of the relocation is weighing on her and my three sisters' shoulders. The name of my sisters is Tyler(31), Kaia(22) and Lyndsey(13); I am 24. Your generous contributions will be allocated to several critical expenses that Mom will encounter throughout her stay in Chicago. The following is a breakdown of the funds for 1 8 months:

a) Rent and Utilities: $30,000

Our goal is to secure a safe and comfortable living space for Mom, ensuring she has a peaceful environment conducive for her recovery. The cost of rent in Chicago is high, and your donations will help us cover this essential expense for 18 months.

b) Medical Co-Pays and Medications: $15,000

The financial aspects of the L-VAD implantation extend beyond the procedure itself. Mom will encounter numerous medical co-pays, prescription medications, and ongoing medical expenses. Your donations will help alleviate the burden of these costs and allow Mom to focus on her recovery without added stress.

c) Transportation: $12,000

Mom will require frequent visits to the hospital, post-operative check-ups, and cardiac rehabilitation sessions. Your support will help cover gas expenses, parking fees, and other transportation costs, ensuring Mom can access the medical care she needs without worrying about the financial strain.

d) Miscellaneous Expenses: $3,000

Life's unexpected expenses can add up quickly. This fund will serve as a safety net for Mom, covering unforeseen circumstances and miscellaneous costs that may arise during her stay.
