Hi everyone,
We are reaching out with a heavy heart and urgent plea for help. Our sweet 10-month-old kitten, Maus, who has brought nothing but joy and affection into our lives, is suddenly facing a life-threatening medical emergency—and we’re running out of time.
This morning, Maus woke up showing signs of severe discomfort. After rushing to assess the situation and speaking with multiple emergency clinics across Montreal, we received heartbreaking news: Maus is suffering from a urinary tract blockage, a condition that can quickly become fatal if not treated within 24–48 hours.
Despite being recently cleared as healthy during a vet check-up, this emergency came completely out of nowhere—and it couldn’t have hit at a worse time. Every clinic I called emphasized how critical the situation is, but also quoted upfront costs ranging from $500 for an initial consult to over $4,000 for full treatment and surgery. We simply don’t have access to this kind of money on such short notice. There is a pet insurance in place, but the waiting period hasn't ended yet. Besides, it only reimburses after treatment, not upfront.
We’ve already contacted every emergency clinic in the area asking them to allow us to pay in installments or set up an on-the-spot payment plan. Unfortunately, they do not provide this option. We've also looked into all financing options, but we don’t qualify.
We're caught in an impossible place—having just paid rent for our household and for my dependent mother’s apartment, and still awaiting the paycheck and the pay from freelance work, which are due in a few days... but not today or tomorrow.
Maus is otherwise a vibrant, healthy kitten. He plays, cuddles, purrs, and brings light into our lives every day. To lose him because we simply can’t afford the cost of urgent care is something I can’t bear to imagine.

If you can help us get Maus the emergency treatment he needs, even a few dollars will bring us closer to saving his life. Every donation—large or small—will be used entirely toward his medical bills. If any funds remain after Maus's treatment, they will be donated to help other pets in need.
I’ve never asked for public help like this, but Maus is family and we’re out of options.
Please consider sharing this with others, especially if you cannot donate yourself. Your support means everything to us.
With love and deepest gratitude,
Inga, Constantine, and Maus
