I am holding this donation for my aunt Mercedes, or as I call her “Titi.” She is undoubtedly the most loving, caring and selfless person I have the privilege of knowing in my lifetime so far.

Right now, she is facing what we recently found out is heart failure or as the doctors told her “tired heart”. Since August 2021 up to day, she has been suffering from painful water retention in her stomach, legs and feet. This condition is also known as edema.

She is a mother of three, currently caring for one 14 year old and 12 year old while her 25 year old son is studying abroad. To be honest, we could say she is a mother of four, by the way she showed up for me as a mother.

She’s a self-employed hairdresser and often turns herself into a chef and cleaner to make ends meet and provide the necessary for her household. Lately, her condition has made it more painful to stand up for long periods of time.

As a single mother, Titi has been taking care of her family on her own. Her son said “she hasn’t had a vacation in 13 years.” It is important that she focuses on her recuperation, and this means she will need to not only undergo treatment but also receive all the help, financial or service she can in managing her responsibilities as a mother and as a patient.

I am creating this fundraiser in the hopes to help alleviate most of the financial challenges she faced in taking care of her health. On January 6th, 2022, Titi missed an appointment with the cardiologist on the French side, Saint-Martin because of cost, which was roughly around $500, not including the prescription drugs she was responsible for getting before her visit.

This goes to display our financial burden in assisting her in getting her proper treatment and if there is one thing that I am sure of, it is that my aunt deserves a chance!

As of February 3rd, 2022, my aunt reached Dominican Republic where she is consulting cardiologists there. We do not know how much this will cost at the end or how long the treatment will take but I do know that there are past and active expenses such as hospitalization fees, travel expenses and more to consider at the moment.
