Lifesaving treatment for Jaspers heart condition

The Tiverton Dog Centre is trying to raise money to help treat Jaspers heart condition. Jasper is an otherwise healthy 1.5 year old Golden Retriever, but during a recent routine check up it was picked up that he had an irregular heart beat (complex ventricular arrhythmia). He has gone through extensive testing at a specialist veterinary practice, including having various ECG’s, scans and tests. Currently his bill is on £3000 for the diagnosis. Jasper is insured, however, insurance are refusing to cover it. Jasper has been found to have a very dangerous type of arrhythmia which can result in a sudden death at any point, if not treated. More tests have yet to be undertaken which will be happening over the next few weeks, however Jasper has been put on various medications that he will need for the rest of his life. The vets have themselves said this is ‘one of the most expensive medications in the veterinary world’. This is estimated to be hundreds of pounds a month at a very minimum, not including the additional testing that will have to be undertook on a frequent basis and any more medication that he will require. This has come as a complete shock as Jasper is completely asymptomatic and is the happiest boy you will meet. Understandably his owners Bekka and Josh are incredibly worried for Jaspers future and I’m hoping to be able to raise some funds that can help ease the financial stress. Bekka is an assistant manager at the Tiverton Dog Centre and dedicates her life to looking after dogs. The vets have said that without treatment he could suddenly die at any given moment.
