Life-Saving Surgery for Mohamed Ahmed

Hi, my name is Mohamed Ahmed. I have been living in Uganda as a refugee for the past 13

years. I recently had a heart attack.

The doctors at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala said I need a triple coronary artery

bypass graft surgery. This would clear the blockages and my heart will get enough oxygen to

keep beating. In Uganda they don’t have the capacity to perform this surgery, so they

recommend I go to India right away. Every day my chance of survival is getting slimmer.

I need your help as I have no health insurance. The surgery and travel abroad will cost USD

$20,000 (preoperative evaluation, surgery, hospital stay, 2-day intensive care, post-surgery

accommodation, tickets, visas, and refugee travel document application).

I need the financial support of friends and family to overcome this moment. It’s hard to ask, but

this is the most difficult challenge my family has had to face. I would appreciate any help you

could give.

With your help, I will recover. I could care for my family, support my neighbours, and enjoy my

community. I would be grateful if I could continue my life, and I would make the most of this

opportunity.
