Life-Saving surgery for María Fernanda Jasmins

Luego de unos días de dolores en la parte derecha del abdomen y después de hacer un tratamiento para una infección de orina, diagnostico que se pensaba era cierto. Le realizan un examen de sangre y una tomografía de urgencia para detectar una gigante masa (20 cm) ubicada en su abdomen.

Hace cinco años, fue detectada una masa de tamaño significativo cancerígeno que fue acompañado de Radioterapia para su tratamiento final. Hoy, volvemos a enfrentarnos al mismo reto, solo que con un tumor de mayor tamaño que está presionando la vesícula, pulmón y tapando el riñón derecho (no se

pudo ubicar en la tomografía realizada).

La operación debe hacerse lo antes posible, para impedir que siga creciendo y pueda afectar un órgano significativamente. El doctor nos confirma que es una cirugía de alto riesgo, pues desconocen si el tumor ha afectado los vasos iliacos (el tumor está en contacto) y es por ello por lo que deben estar presentes cirujanos cardiovasculares para actuar rápidamente en caso de que sea necesario, luego de la cirugía deberá estar en terapia intensiva por 48 horas aproximadamente hasta que este estable para su recuperación y también serán necesarias transfusiones de sangre por la complejidad de la cirugía.

Ella siempre ha sido una mujer lista y dispuesta para todos los retos que se presenten, aunque sean nuevos y generen temor siempre ve hacia adelante. Y quien nos conoce, pues así somos sus dos hijas, afortunadamente heredamos y aprendimos tan valiosa virtud. Siempre hemos buscado poder sustentar,

apoyar a nuestra mama en todo momento y en todos los aspectos, pero en este momento necesitamos tu ayuda.

Nuestra mamá, María Fernanda Jasmins Rodrigues, tiene 71 años, vive en Venezuela y por muchas limitaciones de su previo seguro de salud debido a su historial médico (Colesterol alto, hernia discal y Cáncer) se encuentra sin seguro médico en este momento. A ella le encanta cocinar y hace las más ricas tortas y galletas en nuestra familia. Es una persona sensible, luchadora, persistente e incansable, con muchas ganas de disfrutar a sus hijas y nietas.

After a few days of pain on the right side of her abdomen and after doing a treatment for a urine infection, a diagnosis was thought to be correct. However, she went for an emergency blood test and a CT scan to detect a giant mass (20cm/ 7.87in) in her abdomen.

Five years ago, a cancerous mass of significant size was found requiring surgery and Radiotherapy treatment to finally eliminate the cancer cells. Today, we are facing the same challenge again but with a larger tumor that is pressing on the gallbladder, lung and covering the right kidney (they couldn’t find it

in the CT scan performed).

We must proceed with the surgery as soon as possible to prevent the mass from growing and avoid the possibility of significantly affecting any other organ. The doctor confirms that it would be a high-risk surgery because they do not know if the tumor has affected the iliac vessels with which the tumor is in contact; cardiovascular surgeons must be present during the surgery to act quickly if needed. After surgery, she will be in intensive care for approximately 48 hours until she is stable for her recovery and blood transfusions might also be necessary due to the complexity of the surgery.

She has always been an active woman, ready and willing to face all challenges that arise, even if they are new and generate fear; she always looks forward. Whoever knows us recognizes that we are like her, we are very lucky to have inherited and learned such a valuable virtue. We have always sought to be able to

support our mother in all possible ways, but at this moment, we really need your help.

Our mother, Maria Fernanda Jasmins Rodrigues, is 71 years old, lives in Venezuela and due to many limitations of her previous health insurance and her medical background (High Cholesterol, Herniated Disc and Cancer), she is without insurance coverage right now. She loves to cook and makes the most delicious cakes and cookies in our family. She is sensitive, a fighter, persistent, and tireless, eager to enjoy her daughters and granddaughters.
