Life-Saving Surgery for Kyle Moore

Hello! I'm writing this as a friend of Kyle's.
If you know Kyle, you know he is a friend to many and just radiates positivity and laughter whenever he walks into a room. Even in the picture above...there's a smile on his face. Just days after facing an unexpected, life-saving open heart surgery. And only days after that, he had a second one.
On Kyle's 28th birthday (what turned out to be one he will never forget), he was scheduled for a CT scan after noticing that he had recently been getting more short of breath than usual when exerting himself. So he saw his doctor who sent him for the CT, and after reviewing the imaging, he was told that there were blood clots in his lungs and to go to the hospital immediately. He had planned on getting the scan, going back home, and spending the following weekend celebrating his 28th birthday away with some friends.
BIG change of plans.
Kyle ended up at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth's hospital where more tests/imaging scans were performed. Over the next few days, the doctors determined that he would need a special procedure, and they were not equipped to do it at St. E's. So on January 28th, he was transported to Cleveland Clinic where he underwent a thromboendarterectomy (say that one 5 times fast) to remove the blood clots in his lungs and heart (clots shown above).
The surgery took NINE hours.
We always knew Kyle’s heart was big, but I guess no one realized just HOW big it had gotten...
Each new medical provider he encountered was shocked by what had been removed from his chest. They just couldn't believe that only days/weeks prior, he was walking around like *normal.*
His mom texted me the day of his surgery and said it looked like monsters had been inside his chest. As you can see in the photo...it sure does.
Kyle spent the next few days in the Cleveland Clinic ICU and was then moved to a step-down unit to continue his recovery.
He was scheduled to come home on February 16th (that's right....THREE weeks after he went for a simple CT scan and then never went home), but his chest x-ray showed that there was blood gathering around his heart, so a second open-heart surgery was scheduled. Once they went in again, the surgeons found another large blood clot in one of the heart chambers. Three hours later, Kyle found himself in recovery again.
The doctors have determined that Kyle has 3 gene mutations that cause him to clot abnormally-he will be on blood thinners for the rest of his life-which is why he will need to have bloodwork done weekly to screen him for any abnormalities.
As of Friday, February 24th, Kyle has finally been released from the hospital and is staying temporarily with family and on the road to recovery. He was discharged TWENTY-NINE insane days after walking in for that chest scan, and walking out two open-heart surgeries later.
All funds raised will go directly to Kyle and his family, who have taken time away from work to help with his recovery and medical care. Kyle has been off work for a month now, and will soon start Cardiac Rehab to regain his strength/endurance. He has had 2 open heart/lung surgeries and stayed a total of 29 days in the hospital. As you can imagine, the financial burden of these unexpected, life-altering events would be difficult for any one of us to handle. Please take the time to consider whether you can help Kyle out financially, as I know he would do for anyone else in need if able. If you're not in a position to assist financially, please share this page so we can spread the word!
Feel free to comment below some well wishes for Kyle to get him through this time.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kyle's story.
We are all SO grateful that he is with us today!!!
