Life-Saving Surgery for Danielle Smith
Spende geschützt
Hi everyone! My dear friend, Danielle Smith, was recently diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer for the second time. She was initially diagnosed with this type of cancer about 2 years ago, and after a lumpectomy, rigourous chemo and radiation, she was in remission until recently. On her first diagnosis, her doctors didn't feel like she needed to have a mastectomy due to this horrible disease. It is a very aggressive breast cancer form and more likely to come back in other organs vs the breast again. However, she is one of the very rare individuals whose cancer returned back in the breast, and as of now, ONLY IN THE BREAST. Thank the Lord! She is scheduled to have a double mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction to help get rid of her cancer once and for all. Her healing will be a long process, and we continue to pray for healing in her body so that the cancer doesn't return to any other organs.
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for about 10-15% of all breast cancers. TNBC differs from other types of invasive breast cancer in that it tends to grow and spread faster, has fewer treatment options, and tends to have a worse prognosis (outcome).
Danielle is married to Cody Smith, and they have 2 small children, Dylan (10) and Bryce (5), who are active in the baseball world. Both boys are in school and have been able to maintain their normal routines so far, but there will undoubtedly be challenges for many months ahead. Her father is battling a neuroendocrine tumor that was found in his esophagus and has metastasized to his liver and lung. He is currently getting chemotherapy. This is added stress to their family with her own cancer battle.
We ask that you share Danielle’s story and contribute to her cause as the Smith family continues to fight this uphill battle. Any donations received will go 100% to uncovered prescription costs and ongoing medical fees that are not covered by insurance. In hopes, we will provide Danielle and Cody some relief by alleviating some burden and help them focus on getting our girl healed. Thank you in advance for all of your prayers and generosity, and God bless.
