Hi. My name is Nancy Coren and I am raising funds to help my daughter, Becca Coren, as she prepares to undergo a life-saving surgery here in Hawaii. Becca has suffered from ulcerative pan-colitis since the birth of her son five years ago. She has been in and out of hospitals for life-saving treatments and recently has had a flare which has resulted in loss of weight, loss of strength, and loss of the ability to work as a yoga instructor. Her journey with this disease has involved a range of therapies but all have shown that her disease is treatment-resistant and it has continued to ravage her body. She suffers great pain and her current option to eradicate the disease from her body is to undergo an invasive abdominal surgery which will take place away from her home island on Maui on the island of Oahu. We are thankful that this is an option but also realize that it will not be without great financial burden for her family while she is healing. Her family will have expenses for home health care, medical treatments and supplies, and travel to the hospital on Oahu, coupled with the high daily cost of living in Hawaii with a small child. This is now only being financed by her husband's single income since Becca is not able to work at this time. This fundraiser is designed to help this young family overcome their financial worries and focus on getting Becca back to a place where she can fully participate in the life of her family.
