Life-saving kidney transplant for Fred

As many of you might know, our good friend Fred received a kidney transplant 27 years ago after going into renal failure.
Recently, Fred was hospitalized for an infection. Soon after receiving treatment, his health began to deteriorate. He was then informed that the antibiotics he received for the infection caused injury to his only kidney. Consequently, he needs a kidney transplant to survive. Due to his renal failure he is basically homebound and requires constant nursing care. It is estimated that he will need approximately $30k in funding to qualify for placement on the transplant list and to cover immunosuppressive drugs and other medical treatment expenses. Currently he is the process of registering to receive a donor kidney.
