Maryory es una mujer hondureña que tuvo que escapar de la violencia de las gangas para salvarle la vida a uno de sus hijos al que querían matar. Ella migró con dos de sus hijos hace 5 años, al mismo tiempo tuvo que dejar a su hija mayor y a su nieto. Ellos recibieron asilo en el 2006, pero ahora Maryory fue puesta en procedimiento de deportación por haber faltado a una corte mientras estaba en coma por complicaciones médicas. El 14 de septiembre Maryory terminó en el hospital por un dolor muy fuerte de estómago, y ahí tuvo que tener 4 cirugías que la dejaron sin su sistema gastrointestinal. Por esta razón ahora requerirá nutrición parenteral, de por vida para sobrevivir. Este tratamiento que es suministrado por las venas cuesta de $3,000 a $4,000 al mes, y ella no tiene seguro médico. La Universidad de Colorado y el Centro Amerita Infusión contribuyen generosamente 3 meses de la nutrición parenteral, hasta agosto de este año. Si la familia no recauda los fondos para que siga con vida, ella tendrá que entrar a cuidado de hospicio. En su jornada a los Estados Unidos, ella sufrió dos derrames cerebrales que la han dejado con limitaciones, encima de ahora necesitar cuidado diario. Su esposo Roque es pintor, y toma los trabajos que le salen. Roque y Axell, el hijo menor de Maryory, son los que la ayudan a administrarle los medicamentos y le dan cuidado diario. Axell es un joven dedicado y generoso, que trabaja los fines de semana en un puesto en La Esquina del Sabor,en Aurora, donde también vende joyería hecha a mano, y quien le echa ganas a la escuela con esperanzas de ir al colegio. Maryory, is a Honduran immigrant who had to flee gang violence with her 2 children, 5 years ago, in order to save the life of one of her sons who was being targeted by the gangs. She had to leave her eldest daughter and grandson behind. They were able to receive asylum in 2016, however she is now in deportation proceedings, for not being able to attend the court proceedings due to being in a coma from medical complications. On September 14, Maryory ended up at the hospital with severe stomach pain, and had to have 4 surgeries that left her with a non-working gastrointestinal system. She will now need total parenteral nutrition (TPN) for life in order to stay alive. This treatment costs $3,000 to $4,000 a month and she has no medical insurance. The University of Colorado and Amerita Infusion Center have generously contributed 3 months of TPN, through August of 2021. If she cannot raise the funds to continue therapy after this, she was told she should go on hospice care. On her journey to the United States she suffered two strokes, and this has limited her ability to work. Her husband Roque is a painter, and is taking jobs as they come. Roque and her youngest son, Axell, help her with daily care and administering the medication. Axell is a dedicated young man, who works at a food truck on the weekends, and makes chakra aligment jewelry pieces, and hopes to go to college.
