Life-Saving Dual Organ Transplant for Jim P

Donation protected
Most of you may know Jim Platt, He almost 45, and at the age of 32 he had a quad heart bypass and went into complete renal failure. He started on dialysis the same day of his heart bypass. He has been trying for 13 years to receive a kidney transplant;however, his heart has declined and now needs a heart and kidney
transplant.

Jim, is my husband and we have four wonderful biological children and 4 children who we did foster care for and adopted. Our baby is 13 this year and she has only known her dad to be sick and on dialysis. It is hard for any of us to remember him not being sick.

Jim hides his sickness well! You will never see him complain, he is an active
member of society and helps manage a local hardware store, he donates his time and money to local softball and football. You will see him working with kids to
teach them softball and often times gives them motivational talks. Jim is known
to make you laugh and would give anyone the shirt off his back or even his last
dollar in his wallet. He is a kind man, who works hard to ensure everyone knows
how special they are.

Jim, is in need of a heart and kidney transplant. He recently has been added to the Wisconsin heart and kidney transplant list. He will need to relocate for at least 3 months post surgery. He will remain in the hospital for a minimum of 3 weeks, and then have to be close to the hospital for a minimum of 3 months where they will
conduct heart biopsy on a daily basis for a while and blood draws and other test.
Jim will need 24 hour care for the three months as this will be a long journey to a new life given to him from an amazing gracious donor.  This will put the Platt
family in dire need or financial help to support them while Sharon is caring for
him, and the kids are travailing back and forth to see him yet try to maintain a
normal life with school etc. They will have housing bills in both Missouri and
Wisconsin, and medical bills will be abundant. He will need life long anti-rejection medications that are quite costly.  The medical insurance will not cover all of
these costs.

The money will help with the above mentioned: Medical bills, transplant medications, transportation to and from doctors appointments, housing for
post-transplant etc. Housing will be over 12K, as two rooms will be needed so the family can be together during the critical stages of his surgery and recovery.
Meals, for the family, medications will be very expensive but are not completely
known yet. Jim and Sharon are responsible for 20% of the hospital bill. This
money will help relieve some of the stress that Sharon and Jim and the kids will
have to be faced with.

This cause means so much to me because Jim is my husband, the father to my
children, my best friend, who does so much for others. My kids deserve to see
their father healthy and not in so much pain and suffering. Jim, deserves to have a chance at a normal life, of not having to rush home to a dialysis machine, to not
have to be stuck with large needles daily for dialysis treatments that cause him to feel weak, and in pain, causing sever muscle cramps to the point he is crying and
can't walk. He deserves to be able to travel to ball games without saying I have to make sure i can do dialysis there, or we can't go. Our family deserves this chance at a "normal" life. Without the fear and worry of  his passing.

We can't thank you enough for considering to help us. We are not the type of
people to ask for help, but we are in a situation were it would be impossible to
have this without your support. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We would ask that you would give a moment of thought to not only our family but the family that will be losing a loved one and saving another. Thank you so much! You all mean so much to us.
