Life-Saving Care Needed for Sweet, Abandoned Dog: Georgia
Donation protected
On October 6th, while returning from a Hurricane Helene relief trip to Walthourville, GA, we spotted a small, white face looking up through the rain at cars passing down Rowe Turner Rd. My boyfriend, James, and I immediately pulled over, gathered some leftover grilled chicken, a clean towel, and walked back along the highway to where we found this little girl. She was sitting in a muddy puddle, covered in fleas and pressure sores, and shaking uncontrollably. I've never seen an animal in such an emaciated state. She could barely walk but used the last of her energy to reach the towel and a few bites of chicken. We bundled her into the truck and turned on the heat just as the rain started to come down in buckets. It was painfully obvious that this dog had been outside in the elements, including Hurricane Helene, for many weeks, if not months. A quick Google search showed us that local emergency vets were closed, so we brought her to our local ER - Robinson 24Hr Veterinary Hospital in Yulee, FL.
She was scanned for a microchip with none found, so we decided to name her Georgia. She tested negative for Parvo and received immediate flea and tick treatment. The veterinarian assessed Georgia and recommended an initial treatment plan to be carried out over the next 48-72 hours of critical hospitalization. She is severely anemic and will require at least one, but most likely multiple blood transfusions, as well as treatment for intestinal parasites, ring worm, and dehydration.
We are entirely committed to giving Georgia a second chance at life. A chance to be shown the love, care, and affection that she and every dog deserves. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated and will go directly to Georgia's care and recovery. If unable to help financially, please keep Georgia in your thoughts and prayers as she takes her first step on the road to recovery. Please share if you can!
