URGENT SITUATION
Ozzy, his brother, and their stray mother have been living in our backyard. Our neighborhood has a large outdoor cat population, so we are very accustomed to having feline visitors like Ozzy’s mother, though she was not one of our known regulars.

A few weeks later, we heard faint cries coming from our window well that led us to discovering 2 kittens living down there. We did not disturb or interact with her kittens, as she was still actively guarding, feeding, and staying with them. We did not want to interfere.

This week, we noticed and grew concerned when their mother did not come around. We then started feeding the kittens small amounts of kitten pate and making sure they stayed hydrated. Wednesday evening, when we went to check on the kittens, we found Ozzy in distress and his brother completely lethargic. Within 30 chaotic minutes his brother became unresponsive, went into agonal breathing, and was gone. After the sudden passing of his brother and disappearance of their mother, Ozzy is now completely alone in this world, left to ultimately fend for himself at only 4 weeks old.

Ozzy did not ask to be in this dire situation. He cannot advocate for his health or life, so we are choosing to be his voice and do everything we absolutely can for him. He is a fighter and he wants to live. He is not showing signs of giving up and is actively improving, though still very weak. He has already survived the 5% survival odds the vet gave him at his initial assessment. Ozzy becomes more and more active with vital care. With our help, and hopefully yours, he has the real chance of pulling through this and coming home with us to live a normal life alongside his 2 orange sisters who await him.

We are not a rescue. We are not rich. We are just a couple who strongly believes that Ozzy deserves a fighting chance at the happy, healthy life that his brother unfortunately didn’t get to experience for himself.

We know that we are not alone in wanting to give Ozzy the chance he deserves. We know there are caring people out there who could and would want to support Ozzy’s current medical journey and contribute to the lifesaving care that is absolutely critical to his survival.

We have paid for emergency blood transfusions, ICU hospitalization, and fully expect more supportive care like this in the coming days in order to bring him to stable health. The amazing support staff at Veterinary Emergency Services of Lincoln, who have helped us tremendously, advised that another 2-3 days of intensive care could be what makes the lifesaving difference for Ozzy.

We have already paid for 2 days of hospitalization and really want to continue this intensive care so that Ozzy can fully overcome this. He is currently battling flea anemia, malnutrition, and hypothermia.

If you are looking to make a real difference or make an impact on a life, one that currently only weighs 0.9 lbs, you can do that for Ozzy. Any donation amount will help us keep him monitored, fully supported, in vital hospitalization.

If you are unable to help financially, which is completely understandable, we would appreciate you sharing our GoFundMe.
