Life-Saving Cancer Treatment for Holly

My name is Laura Jones and I am starting this fundraiser for my sweet daughter Holly and her loving husband Jeremy.  Their lives were forever altered when she was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in April 2015. She sought the experts at City of Hope in California and underwent a liver resection in May, where they removed 60% of her liver.  The surgery was considered successful and no further treatment was recommended.  She returned to work 2 months after surgery!

In March 2016, she experienced a reoccurrence. Thankfully it remained within the liver, and the team at City of Hope was able to perform an ablation, followed by chemotherapy for 5 months in Las Vegas. She tolerated the chemo fairly well, she continued to work, maintained her amazing positive attitude and kept her strong faith in God! She was again considered NED (no evidence of disease) for the next 3 years!

Holly and Jeremy, continued making the trek back and forth to City of Hope every 2-3 months for follow up MRIs as well as CT scans, and lab work.  We celebrated every clear scan!

May 2019, they noted a spot in her right lung, but it was small, and they weren't sure if it was from a virus or previous infection. 

In October, they became more concerned as it was continuing to grow, and multiply. She had a PET Scan in December which confirmed  the devastating news, the cancer had spread to her lungs, and is now inoperable. She recently underwent and is recovering from a surgery that was done to help guide the next steps and hopefully open up more possibilities for treatment options. At this time, Holly has decided not to return to work so she can focus all of her energy and time on healing, and beating this once again.

Holly will start immunotherapy in 2 weeks of which only a small portion is covered by insurance. She is also exploring targeted drug therapy and possibly clinical trials. Cholangiocarcinoma is very rare and there are no  standard of care treatment guidelines. There are no FDA approved medications. 

Holly has been researching and wants to add holistic treatments with her conventional treatments, in hopes of attacking this from all angles. Some of these include detoxifying programs, ozone therapy, oncological hyperthermia, cold laser, IVC,  adding multiple vitamins and off- label medications which are used to block all the pathways cancer takes. None of these are covered by insurance.

I am starting this go fund me page to help offset costs of medical travel, treatments and care she will need in the following months. Lets help alleviate any financial burden her and Jeremy are feeling. They deserve to be able to spend their time focusing on family, friends, faith and all the things which bring joy to their lives.
