Life-Saving Cancer Treatment for Adrene Reding

April 12, 2021 - The day we faced our greatest fears.
It was 10:30pm on a Monday night when mom received an email she didn't want to open about her upcoming surgery to remove the tumor in her uterus. It was supposed to be an easy surgery. It was supposed to be the end of the cancer.
I didn't get why she was scared. Last time when she battled breast cancer in 2018 we had won. She had survived having her breast removed, she had suffered through chemo and lost her hair and she had made it through painful radiation, but we had beat it and we were going to do the same for this stupid uterine cancer.
But when I opened that email, all my strength washed away from my body. I was paralyzed with absolute fear because at the top of the report were the words:
"Evidence of Metastatic Cancer in the Lungs"
Oh my god. My mom had Stage IV advanced incurable cancer.
And I had to tell her.
She could see by my face that something wasn't right. I had no idea what to say to her. I never imagined I would have to tell my parents the worse news they would ever hear. She looked so incredibly scared. When I finally blurted it out, she started to cry and scream and I just stood there in shock. My children came out in a panic. What was wrong with grandma? I really had no idea what to do. And of course, I had to do it all over again as we went home to tell my dad the news.
I'm not going to lie, the first couple weeks were just full of depression and despair. It's not easy to accept the challenge of fighting this disease. Nobody wants to be a solider in a war that may never end, but day by day, we've grown stronger and as a family with the support of so many, we've decided to embark on a new mission:
We're going to beat this disease.
I don't care what the statistics say. There ARE people who have beat Stage IV cancer and my mom is going to be one of them. It's going to take a lot of physical work on her part, a ton of research and planning on my end and an incredible amount of support from people who believe we can beat this evil disease too.
I hate to say this, but cancer is a game and in order to beat it, you have to outsmart it before the clock runs out. You can't just hit it with one treatment. You have to attack it with multiple treatments all at once. But many of these treatments aren't covered by insurance and they're not available in our backyard.
Asking for money is incredibly difficult for us. We're hardworking people that believe in giving to others more than ourselves, but we can't do this alone. Fighting cancer is expensive and I want to save my mother so she can continue to keep giving back with her beautiful music, teaching and generosity to others.
We need you.
OUR GOAL WITH THIS CAMPAIGN is to raise money for the alternative treatments that will enhance the effects of her chemotherapy and kill the cancer throughout her body. Chemo isn't going to win this battle alone and surgery/radiation aren't an option.
With your donations, we're hoping to enroll in a specific hospital program (in either Florida or Mexico) that will save her life. Treatments will be administered for several weeks to several months. None of these expenses are covered by insurance.
We're scared, but we're determined.
