Life for Eta

Enkhtulga Tseveenkhuu's story:

On the evening of October 16, 2019, our dear friend Eta was told that he had stage three bone cancer. A year earlier, he had been initially misdiagnosed with SI Joint dysfunction and unfortunately was not able to receive the support he needed much earlier. Thankfully, the cancer has not metastasized and he has a full chance of recovery with the proper treatment of chemotherapy and surgery. However, these procedures are very expensive and out of reach for him and his family, who can barely afford the cost of living. On top of his medical expenses, there is an additional financial strain to pay for his mother’s travel from South Gobi, Mongolia to the US and incurring living expenses in the US as she needs to be here to support and look after Eta until his full recovery. We (his close friends) were devastated by this news and are in close connection with Eta and his family during this time of dismay and want to further support him by setting up this effort to raise funds to support any expenses incurred over Eta’s recovery.

An extremely hardworking and humble person, Eta has selflessly given back to every community that has welcomed him through a multitude of volunteering and teaching experiences. Despite his tender age of 25 years, he has previously worked at a premier Mongolian bank for 3 years, leading his team to new heights of success and becoming recognized as the IT employee of the year in 2016. Following his ambitions, he moved to the US in 2017 for a master’s program, taking out student loans to realize his dreams. While completing his masters degree, he began his dream job as a software engineer at Cisco, where he was working when he found out the news that would change his life. Last year, Eta lost his father to a heart attack, who had been battling heart disease for 10 years. However, he has kept up his positivity, and continued blogging about education, scholarships, and social work with the aim of making a positive impact on society, supporting those following in his footsteps.

Eta is an amazing and generous person, with a heart bigger than life. When he found out about his cancer, he made a bucket list of things to complete in his lifetime, which primarily includes giving back to his home country. The day after his diagnosis, he traveled 300 kilometers to his hometown of Sainshand in Mongolia and shared his self-growth and professional experiences with high school students to inspire them to work harder and pave their way toward brighter futures.

We are completely distraught by this news but we believe, and know, that Eta will beat the cancer. There are many expenses that Eta will encounter during his recovery, and we anticipate a significant financial burden on Eta and his family, in addition to the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges. At this time of misfortune, any help, be it monetary or otherwise, would mean a lot to him and his family. With your support and help, Eta might be able to recover fully and continue giving back to the people around him.

We thank you very much in advance for your generous support - your help can save his life! #LifeForEta #BeatOneInAMillion

P.S. We are Enkhtulga Tseveenkhuu's friends and plan on being fully transparent about all incoming funds and incurred medical expenses. We have no other agenda and simply hope to help our friend in this time of need.

#LifeForEta #BeatOneInAMillion
