Our Pastor's Sabbatical (Perry)

Many of you are aware that October is “Pastor Appreciation Month.” Each year Life Chapel takes the time to honor our Lead Pastors, Jonathan, and Sharon Perry. However, this year we would like to do something a little different, a little grander!

Life Chapel and the friends of Life Chapel would like to send Pastors Jonathan and Sharon Perry on a sabbatical. A sabbatical is not a vacation, but an extended period of time where they would be free from their pastoral duties and have the ability to travel, write, explore, and most importantly REST.

Most of us have heard the stories about a young, 19-year-old, Jonathan and Sharon hitting the road to do ministry and evangelism. Since that time, over 34 years ago, they have been moving full steam ahead to build a church and make an impact for the Kingdom of God.

When we reflect on their tireless efforts to disciple and care for people, we can’t help but think of what Paul said: “I will gladly spend myself and all I have for you…” (1 Cor. 12:15) There is no doubt that our leaders are visionaries, but their hearts have never shifted from purely loving people and impacting a world!

The past five years have been some of the most challenging. As the Perry’s listened closely to the call of God over their lives and remained open to the direction of the Holy Spirit, transitions were on the horizon. Knowing that he was about to lead people through many changes, Pastor started by seeking the face of God. One of the ways he did this was by walking fifty plus miles around the city every year for his Birthday, strategically praying over different areas. We have witnessed him persevere with debilitating headaches, but continuing on with a strong resolve to pierce the darkness of a city. It was also during this time that Jonathan and Sharon took a bold step of faith and with much laboring, launched The City Hub (Rustbelt Coffee, Cream Living, & Rustbelt Works).

Jonathan and Sharon know that they are called to raise up leaders and send them out. For this cause, they work tirelessly day in and day out. These are two of the most generous people that we know, and they have truly laid down their own lives for the call of Christ.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to help them take a true sabbatical.  If they have made an impact on your life, would you consider helping us meet our goal?

Sincerely,
The Pastoral Team of Life Chapel
