It's hard to imagine that life can change so quickly! Kelly Elliott - Meek - Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Active, healthy and enjoying life. That all changed one week in October.
It started with a lump on her thigh back in July. A reassuring trip to the doctor; "I don't think it's anything, let's just keep an eye on it."
August, a second opinion... same result.
By September, it was growing more painful. Believing it was hurting due to hours in a car, driving from Texas to Florida to Norfolk, Virginia to move their son to the navel base there. It was easy to write-off the pain as stiffness from so much time sitting in a car. Kelly scheduled a therapeutic massage. It was the massage therapist who recognized that something was wrong and recommended she see a specialist.
Monday, October 5th - Biopsy
Thursday, October 8th - CT scan
Friday, October 9th - Results; Pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma with rhabdoid features. A very rare cancer. Stage 3 (this cancer only goes to stage 3). It had metastasized to her lungs.
Until October 9th, Kelly was a healthy, non-smoking, healthy eating, gym going, 51 year old.
Her journey will be long and tough. Kelly is slated to start the most aggressive type of chemo soon, as this is a fast-growing cancer, and will be very sick for quite a while.
This Go-Fund-Me page was not Kelly's request. Her family is getting by day to day. We anticipate her financial burdens will go well beyond what insurance will cover and incidentals will add up quick.
If you would like to show your support financially it would help ease the financial burden to the Meek family. If you are not able to make a financial contribution just sharing this post with your friends and family will help, and prayers are always appreciated.
Most importantly, keep Kelly, Doug, Preston and Parker in your prayers.
I will keep you updated on her progress.
Thank you!
