Life Changed Overnight — Please Help Us Get Through This
On March 15th, my life changed forever. I had a devastating fall in our apartment complex that left me with over 22 fractures between my arm and my leg—and a long, painful road to recovery.
The fall caused what doctors call a “terrible triad break” in my right elbow. I had to undergo a full elbow replacement, along with plates and screws, just to regain some function. My left leg—which resulted in a ACL implant—was severely damaged in the fall. I tore every ligament except my MCL, severed a crucial nerve, and now suffer from drop foot, which makes walking painful, unstable, and exhausting.
As if that weren’t enough, I recently lost access to my wheelchair, due to a situation out of my control. On top of that, we are now down to one vehicle, and it doesn’t allow us to transport a wheelchair at all. This has forced me to walk distances that my body simply isn’t ready for—causing constant fatigue, pain, and extreme exhaustion.
I still can’t fully straighten my arm, and every step is a struggle. I’m in physical therapy now and facing at least another year of recovery, with the possibility of another surgery coming up. I’ll know more after meeting with my doctors on July 30th.
Because of this accident, both my husband and I lost our jobs. We exhausted all of our medical leave trying to keep up with surgeries, therapy, and appointments. We’ve already used up our 401Ks just to keep our rent paid. Now, we’re left with no income and struggling to cover even the most basic expenses—rent, food, gas, and medical bills.
We’re hoping to raise any amount to help cover:
• Rent and utilities
• Groceries and fuel for medical appointments
• Ongoing therapy, treatment, and medications
• Transportation needs and basic living expenses
• A little breathing room to heal without constant fear
We do have a disability lawyer and have filed a claim, but the process can take time—and we need help right now.
This accident hasn’t just taken a toll on my body—it’s drained our mental and emotional health, too. I feel like people don’t see the pain, the exhaustion, the fight it takes just to move through the day. But I’m determined to walk again. I’m determined to straighten my arm and rebuild the life I had. I want to work again, smile again, and feel like myself.
If you’ve read this far—thank you. Whether you can donate $5 or just share this with others, it means more than I can express. Every bit helps us hang on just a little longer while I fight to recover.
