My name is Pam, and I am co-hosting this campaign for my beloved friend Susannah Spanton. This woman has been in my life for over 20 years as my teacher, mentor, counselor, Reiki Master, confidante, and wind beneath my wings. For as long as I have known her, she has been a “life-giver” – always putting others first and consistently embracing love as the only true path to living life. Now she needs support. Susannah is one of the greatest examples of living freely and abundantly, and I’m so grateful to call her my soul friend. It breaks my heart that she is now in the midst of one of the greatest challenges of her life. She has both an indomitable spirit and loves unconditionally! I consider her a true Celtic peaceful warrior!

My name is Dan Rob, and if you know Susannah you may have heard of me because this woman is my friend and, most importantly, gave birth to me. It often feels as though we are twin souls as we hike and play on the water in addition to flying high practicing aerial yoga. She is the woman I most admire, and I am blessed beyond measure for the gift of being her son. I want her to attain her dream of living on the planet until she is 100. Honestly, I wish her life could be immortal, so I never have to live without her. Please support my Momma as she journeys through this uphill climb. May my brothers and I continue to be her brave and loving guides up this healing mountain. We will get to the top and be victorious. This is a time to give to a person who has given to others all her life. We are asking her tribe to gather and surround a special woman who has spent her life educating, mentoring, and loving. Though it took some gentle persuasion, Susannah has agreed for us to tell her story that she has kept very private over these past difficult 13 months. In April 2021, after returning from a mini-Florida vacation with a friend, Susannah discovered a lump in her right breast that felt concerning. The tests, unfortunately, confirmed that it was a carcinoma lump and that the best course of action was to have surgery to remove the lump. If you know Susannah, you can only imagine the devastation she felt because she has lived her life in holistic and health-conscious ways. If you have ever traveled on an airplane with her, you are aware she always chose a pat down rather than go through the body scan machine to avoid radiation exposure.

 

The surgery was completed in August, and much to Susannah’s hesitation, she completed 23 sessions of radiation treatments. Feeling excited and hopeful that the health challenges were over, Susannah returned to living her beautiful life filled with meaningful relationships. She was thrilled to resume her life’s work in energy healing and teaching trauma-informed care to her students, both of which are her true passions. Sadly, a PET scan in March revealed the breast cancer cells had migrated to her lungs. A major complication occurred when teaching a Reiki Master class Susannah’s breathing became increasingly difficult. Determined to finish her class, Susannah waited until Sunday night to let her family doctor know how much she was struggling to breathe. She was rushed to the emergency room on Monday morning April 4th, and they discovered her lungs had filled with nearly three liters of fluid, and if she waited any longer to go to the hospital, we would have lost her. Dr. Christopher Davis helped save her life. Once at the hospital, the doctors performed a surgery to put in a pleural effusion drain to alleviate the fluid retention, and a visiting nurse began coming to the house three times a week. Much to her dread, Susannah had to face a decision that collided with her values. The one medication that terrified her was being highly recommended. Chemotherapy has always been a treatment Susannah swore she would never participate in, but here she was with this intense decision. After much family support and intense contemplation, she said “Yes” to the treatments only because she felt it was her only option. Susannah’s approach to this health challenge of epic proportion incorporates a strong East and West integrated model. Over the coming months, she will be doing the following practices regularly:

· Biofield Tuning Sessions

· Chiropractor care

· Hypnotherapy sessions

· Access bar consciousness sessions

· Energy healing sessions

· Music therapy

· Aromatherapy

· Colonics

· Food as Medicine 

· Mind Body therapy

 

Most of these practices are not covered by insurance and will add to her growing medical financial burden. As you can well imagine this combination of conventional and complementary medicine speaks to who Susannah is and always will be a true trailblazer.
