Hello Everyone,
My name is Jorge Alan Salazar, I am 25 years old, and I was born with Cystic Fibrosis. I need a life-saving kidney transplant. My mother is my kidney donor. We need help to pay for the transplant. Please help me get my transplant and keep enjoying: spending time with family, watching Barca games, and eating my grandmother’s one-of-a-kind pork tamales.
When I was born the doctors gave me a life expectancy of 3 years. I survived past three but as I got older the disease got more aggressive. My expected quality of life kept getting less hopeful. The odds were always against me but I kept fighting.
From the age of 12 to 20, I spent more time in the hospital than being a kid. At the age of 19, my doctors told me I had less than a year to live. Like always, I kept fighting for my life and stayed optimistic. When I was 20 years old, I was blessed by being a double-lung transplant. This angel saved my life and gave me another chance to spend time with my family.
Despite the odds, I have been blessed with angels along the way who have given me hope and allowed me to enjoy life. When I was 17, the Make-A-Wish foundation made my dream come true. They gave me the opportunity to meet my favorite soccer player, Barca’s Lio Messi! Due to my poor health, my doctors advised me against traveling to Spain to meet Messi. Still, it was my dream to travel to Barcelona, Spain to meet Messi. I’m a huge Barca fan!
When I was 21-years old my kidneys began to fail me. By the end of the year, my doctors told me that my kidney function was less than 5% and I was placed in hemo-dialysis. I struggle with diabetes, high blood pressure, and receive dialysis three times a week. I am 25 years old and recently had a heart attack, my second one in less than 6 months. My health only keeps getting worse. It’s been really tough on my family and me.
Again, I find myself in a life-or-death situation and I need a kidney transplant to enjoy more birthdays with my loved ones. Your donation will help me get a kidney transplant and help me survive past 25 to continue to be a loyal Barca fan!
