My name is Dahlia.
I am an 8 month old, pedigree Chihuahua. Weighing just 1.8kgs. Last week on August 5th, my family’s world was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with a condition called Canine Chiari malformation and syringomyelia.
These are complex conditions that affect the brain and spinal cord.
Essentially, my skull is too small for my brain, resulting in issues with blood flow to the spinal cord.
Unfortunately my family were given further bad news when they were told after an MRI scan, if left, I will not be here in 1 year.
I need a custom made implant for my tiny skull to make it big enough for my growing brain.
The cost for this treatment including a CT scan to assist in making my custom implant is 15K.
Due to the type of insurance cover I have, my family have reached the cover limit in getting me to my diagnosis.
I have a big brother and sister called Denzel and Cece, who love me very much.
My mummy also tells me she doesn’t know how she’d live without me.
Please. If you can’t donate, share my story, so I have more of a chance of success and continuing to grow with the family I love very much.
If you can donate, my family and I are so very grateful for any donations, large or tiny like me!
Love,
Dahlia
