Hi, my name is Love, and I am reaching out and sharing my sister's journey with you.
I feel the urgency and know the importance of sharing this story and the need for support from you.
My sister, Lala (left side of the picture), 45, was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2020. It crushed my family and me, her kids, Penny and Keesha.
Sadly, the disease came back this year and required her to undergo surgery, radiation, and additional treatment.
Her oncologist recommended oral chemotherapy (like Ibrance), which will help slow the cancer progression, and the potent drugs will potentially put her back in remission. Unfortunately, AHM OSHC insurance in Australia does not cover this drug. Her insurance representative advised her to ask her doctor if they could provide the medicine at no cost. Dr. Ramin Behzadigohar/oncologist requested AHM to cover the medically necessary drug, but that was unsuccessful. Her oncologist can not do anything if the medication is not covered by insurance.
We are left in limbo, which is frustrating and upsetting in many ways.
I have made phone calls to different hospitals and found ways to get her transferred to where she could get treated without any insurance issues. Still, because AHM insurance denied paying, the options are limited.
I want my sister to only focus on getting well.
That is why I'm here humbly asking for your help, rallying everyone to support this cause. I don't want you to read this and think other people will donate; yours does not matter. Every dollar counts, and any amount will be appreciated to help my sister.
On behalf of my family, please accept our gratitude for the love and generous gift.
Thank you so much!
-Love (Beth) Romero
