I’m asking the world to please help my younger brother Jakub, because he is running out of options... and I’m afraid he may also be running out of time. He is 22 years old and fighting for his life against adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), one of the rarest cancers in the world. Treatments are experimental, and centers that provide these treatments are not available in our country.

Meet Jakub, or Kuba as we call him at home. Growing up together, we never shared a sibling rivalry - I wouldn’t have stood a chance. Kuba was always a top student and was breaking record after record in athletics. He even found time to serve as an acolyte at our local church. By 19 years old, he was studying finance at the top university in Poland and everyone was excited to see how he would change the world.

That year, on the night of our grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary, everything changed. After a night of carefree dancing and happiness surrounded by family, Kuba woke up and he couldn’t move. We took him to the hospital immediately, and the doctors were stumped. Blood tests were normal, the scans showed nothing, and they were ready to send him home. 

And then, by accident, or maybe by divine intervention, they found it. A 6-inch solid tumor on his adrenal gland. It was so big that they called medical students in to observe. Kuba’s world turned upside down on that day.

Two years later, after complete surgical removal of his adrenal gland and one round of unsuccessful chemotherapy, his cancer is back and growing faster than ever. Doctors here in Poland are limited because of funding cuts caused by COVID-19, and they lack the technology to help Kuba in the best way that modern medicine can offer.

Why We Need Your Help:
Our family is small, but very strong. Our mom is a single mom who works at an elementary school, and I recently graduated from university. Kuba is training online to become a programmer, even though the side effects of his treatment make this very difficult. We do our best to provide what Kuba needs, but it’s not enough – at this point, we need a miracle.

Adrenocortical carcinoma is known as an “orphan” cancer with no standardized treatment plan, and it is known to be incredibly aggressive and even deadly. It is super rare in the general population, and basically unheard of for someone at Kuba’s age. However, the doctors say there is hope because Kuba is so young and he has been so athletic his entire life.

Our Goals:
Our faith is strong that Kuba could get more help at a clinic in Germany, where immunotherapy with antibodies is available. More experimental clinical trials are happening in America, but we don’t have anything close to the resources required to send him overseas.
-   $5,000 would allow my brother Kuba to travel to Germany for a consultation at a specialized cancer institute
-   $10,000 would allow Kuba to be treated for a short amount of time at a better hospital
-   $20,000+ would allow Kuba to pursue the most modern and effective options medicine can offer, even if it means travelling across the world!
