Life Saving Cancer Treatment for Daniel Byron

While 2020 was a standout year for all the wrong reasons for everyone, it has affected our very close friend Daniel Byron more than most. After losing his sister Megan to a heart attack in October 2020, Daniel has been diagnosed with incurable Stage 4 Gliomablastoma which is a very aggressive and rare brain cancer after doctors found a tumour on the right side of his brain which has required immediate treatment.
This came as a shock to Daniel, his wife Mel and daughter Makayla (13) after getting tests done for a recurring headache and blurred vision. While most people were gearing up for Christmas, Daniel was preparing for the biggest fight of his life and started a 6 week course of Chemo and Radiation treatment on the 21st of December. Being the fighter that he is, Daniel is determined to be the first survivor of this form of cancer and live for another 30+ years.
For those that know Daniel, you wouldn’t be surprised to know that he, Mel and Mak are in the process of adopting Megan’s daughter Tiana (12), after Megan’s passing in October. The selfless man that Daniel is, there was no other option but to undertake this responsibility but it does unfortunately increase the financial strain placed on the family. That is where we can help.
Daniel is currently unable to work due to his treatment and therefore the family is left to live off Mel’s income and their family savings. His incoming medical bills are going to be extremely costly on top of the everyday bills that it takes to provide for a family of 4. This is on top of the massive emotional and physical toll that the family is going through during this time.
This GoFundMe has been set up to support Daniel and the Byron family with the financial costs associated with treatment as well the current lost income that comes with being unable to work.
We are reaching far and wide to ask for help on behalf of the Byron family and we know that through the overwhelming support from friends, family and the community we can make a difference in this family’s future.
