Help Me Care for My Rescued Kitties During a Tough Time

My name is Stephanie Smith and I have been rescuing animals all my life. Some of them end up in loving new homes and some of them end up staying with me if I cannot find an appropriate new home for them. I am in Texas and sometimes it is hard to find adopters due to the high number of animals in need of homes. So, I have to care for them until they do find loving homes.

Currently, life has taken an unexpected turn, and I’m reaching out with a humble heart. After turning 60, I lost my job and, despite searching every day, haven’t had any luck finding work. Like many others my age, it's been hard to bounce back — and while I’m doing everything I can, things are getting tough.

Through all of this, I’ve continued caring for these sweet, rescued kitties who depend on me completely. These precious souls have come from heartbreaking situations — abandoned, sick, or simply forgotten — and they’ve found safety, love, and warmth here with me. I’ve been making ends meet as best I can, but now we’ve fallen behind on our bills, and some of the kitties urgently need veterinary care. They deserve the care they need, and right now, I can’t provide it without help.

Sophie, who I rescued as a tiny kitten when she looked like the walking dead, is now 9 years old and has developed an upper respiratory issue that needs attention.

Sophie when she was first rescued.

Sophie grew into a beautiful girl.

Fluffy, an older feral boy I took in with a massive neck wound, is FIV positive and needs a check-up and bloodwork to monitor his health.

Fluffy's neck wound after he was brought inside. It started even worse than this. And he ended up with a skin allergy that was horrible.

Now he is beautiful and sweet. Needs his FIV checked.

Batman has developed a painful lip ulcer, and GG, my sweet 22-year-old girl, has a concerning lump on her shoulder. They all need to see the vet soon, and I just don’t have the means to get them the help they need right now.

This fundraiser is for the basics: food, litter, veterinary care, and to catch up on overdue utilities and mortgage. Every donation — no matter the amount — goes directly to making sure these sweet babies are fed, healthy, and safe. If you can give, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you can’t give right now, sharing this campaign would mean the world. These cats have brought joy to a really hard chapter in my life. With your support, I can keep them healthy and continue giving them the love they deserve.

I don't ask for help very often, but it has gotten to that point.

I am also including a link to an amazon wish list in case anyone would like to send some necessities/supplies. We are in desperate need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you from the bottom of my heart for your support.

I've included just a few photos of Sophie and Fluffy. I am working on rebuilding the website that I had for these guys. It crashed for some reason, and I could never get it back up, so having to totally rebuild it. The website is https://www.lifeonabridge.com. It is mostly just a template right now, but if you check back in a week or so, there will be stories and videos and more.

On another note, if anyone has a remote job available, please let me know.
