THE LIFE OF DEREK SIMENAC
Derek Simenac was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, brother, and loyal friend to many. Living in Edmonton, Alberta, Derek was known for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need. He had a deep love for mankind, animals, and nature, and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether helping a neighbor, supporting a friend, or providing for his family, Derek gave his all in everything he did. He was a proud Red Seal, Journeyman scaffolder and arborist.
Derek’s life was taken far too soon in a devastating roadside tragedy on Wayne Gretzky Dr in Edmonton, South of the North Sask. River at the 106Ave exit where a memorial will be placed. His passing has left an unimaginable void as the sole provider in the lives of his loving wife and 4 children. Loved by family, friends and the community he lived in. News media articles available from May 21st 2026 Edmonton, Alberta. Derek passed instantly and painlessly, during work, due to a series of extraordinary circumstances.
As the family navigates this heartbreaking loss, we are raising funds to support funeral and burial expenses, as well as provide care and stability for Derek’s immediate family during this incredibly difficult time. A Funeral, Burial, and Celebration of Life will be announced.
