Additionally, funds will also be used to train the younger crew members that will occupy the production assistant positions. At WeBreedLove Productions one of our highest priorities is to offer accessible training in a professional environment to filmmakers who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity. The best way to get better at making movies is to make movies. We believe that this film will offer a fun, relaxed, and edifying work environment that younger filmmakers will be able to grow exponentially from.
The Story
Life of Crime is a short film that follows a two characters: Mike, young police officer who is unsure of his place in the world and in his profession, and Rachel, a young woman who, in an incredibly sad event, lost her parents when they were killed by a police officer.
The film is a deconstruction of the systems in place in our country, and is an unbiased look at both sides of the perceived violence that is prevalent in the cultural climate of modern day America. The film is designed to ask larger questions than the topics that it is covering. It makes bold inquiries about the way in which humans treat one another and how some of the issues that America faces can be solved. Life of Crime will ask the viewers and audience members to think critically about the ways in which society can better themselves and the types of values that we want to leave for a future generation. Ultimately, the summation of the film’s arch is this: The cycle of hurt people cannot be solved by hurting more people.
The Crew
The crew for Life of Crime truly is first class. Spearheaded by Chetley Breedlove and produced by his wife Kendra Breedlove, the leadership of the film represents 15 years of experience on feature films, commercial ventures, short films and music videos. Chetley is making his narrative directorial debut with this short film, and, given his past experiences with many fantastic directors, the production of Life of Crime couldn’t be in better hands. The cinematographer for Life of Crime is Caleb Hoenshell. Caleb has shot many short films both during and after his time attending John Brown University’s film program. This will be Caleb’s fifth short film that he has shot this year. He has been the cinematographer for commercials and music videos, and has also worked several feature films as a PA, grip, swing, and most recently as a gaffer. Caleb brings a great vision for the visual aesthetic of the film. Robert Babcock will be taking on the role of Assistant Director. He is also familiar with the acting side of production as he has acted in many short and feature films.
