Hello my names is James and I am fundraising for mental illness treatment for my wife Jennifer. Over the last week my wife attempted to end her life as she felt it would lesson the burden and pain inflicted on her family.
For 27 years now my family and I have lived with tremendous pain and suffering due to a loved one struggling from extreme depression, PTSD, anxiety and a sleeping disorder due to multiple forms of abuse.
My wife and mother of my children was a victim of sexually abuse starting at very early age. This was only the start of a life time of traumatic events up into her adulthood.
Due to a broken home that experienced alcohol addiction and physical abuse she was forced to leave home at the age of 14.
While doing her best to survive at a very young age she fell victim to more forms of abuse such as rape and extreme physical as well as mental abuse. . All of this transpired between the ages of 14 to 20 years old.
I met my wife when I was 18 and she was 20. Together we have 2 beautiful children and a grandson. We are both in our late 40s now and through out that time she has always struggled with many forms of life debilitating illnesses, to the point where she can't leave the house alone, she no longer takes part in any forms of socializing, she has sleeping issues due to nightmares and flashbacks. At times jennifer struggles with things such as basic self care and personal hygiene, proper nutrition and daily household chores. Jennifer often relies on other to grocery shop or even drive because she often experiences panic attacks.
There has been numerous suicide attempts made along with other forms of self harm and destruction.
Jennifer has always done everything in her power to put our children and myself first and even through daily struggles she has always been the rock that keeps our family together. Her desire to help others in need has always amazed me and seems to give her a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
The treatment facility we are seeking offers great resources such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Psycho-dynamic Therapy, Art Therapy and Logo Therapy. Also many forms of recreational and wellness activities along with diet and nutritional needs. It is a 42 day in-patient program and also offers a robust aftercare and family support services.
Please help me and my children give Jennifer a chance at life before it too late.
