Hi friends! Thank you for coming and reading about what is going on in our life.
My husband Joshua was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2004 at the age of 20. He was totally devastated by this diagnosis. He thought how and why did this happen? How will I care for my daughters who are so young?

Josh had always been very active and healthy up until this point. In a blink of an eye, his whole world was turned upside down. Type 1 diabetes comes with various highs and lows, many mood swings, many finger pricks, and also insulin injections multiple times a day. Some days are worse than others but he just keeps on fighting the fight. Staying positive is what he is great at.

Suddenly after 12 years of battling this disease, Josh came down with what he thought was the flu. After a few days of feeling so sick, I finally convinced him to go to the emergency room. After multiple tests were ran, it was determined that Josh was in kidney failure. He was told that he would need to be on dialysis to live. This diagnosis came just three months after we started dating. Where most people would have ran, I knew i would be staying by his side through all of it. Dialysis makes it hard to do things. You feel very sick and tired most of the time and if you want to go out of town you have to make sure there is a dialysis center that you can get in to where ever you are going.

After a year of being on dialysis 3 times a week for 4+ hours each time, it took a toll on him. Trying to work 40+ hours and going to dialysis was a struggle. He started to pass out at work due to hypoglycemia. At this point it was now time to go on disability.

His daughters, now 15 and 16, live in Virginia now which makes it very hard to see them due to dialysis. He misses them more than anything. They are his world and would love to be able to see them more often but due to his condition it is extremely hard for him.

We have only been married 1.5 years but it feels much longer with all the battles we have faced together. While we work incredibly hard on our own to cover the expenses of surgery and post operative medications that he will need to be on, we are still faced with my husband not working and his insurance and disability ending in September 2019. We are praying for a new kidney by December 2019 if not sooner!

Any and all support is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, consideration, and love. We know down the road we will be able to pay it forward to someone else in need

After being on dialysis for 3 years it is now time to get a kidney transplant. Josh's life will be forever changed and he will be able to get back to the things he loves to do!

Thanks so much!
Joshua and Heidi
