Life in 36: A Tribute to Labor Journeys

Eloura presents “Life in 36.” This initiative was created to honor the strength of women during labor and to bring awareness to the physical and emotional challenges that often go unseen.

The concept of Eloura was inspired by listening to the experiences of women during their labor and recovery journeys. While working with women in physical training sessions, I consistently heard stories about the challenges they faced postpartum—particularly following cesarean sections, though also after natural births. These shared experiences highlighted common struggles and the need for better support solutions. Motivated to address this gap, I conducted in-depth research, conferred with medical professionals, and reviewed a range of medical literature. Through this process, the vision for Eloura was developed.

What is “Life in 36”? It’s 36 workouts in 36 hours. At the top of every hour, a workout will be completed — continuing without sleep for the full 36 hours. This endurance event is a symbolic way to pay homage to the intensity of labor and to raise awareness of the toll it takes on women.

The number 36 was chosen to represent someone close to me who endured more than 35 hours of labor.

While childbirth is natural, the difficulties and long-term effects are too often overlooked. Through “Life in 36,” we hope to shine a light on these realities and do our part to honor, support, and empower women through their journey.
