Life For Laci Battling Lymphoma
Donation protected
Hi there as most of you know, my name is Cindy and I am Laci’s mom. In August of 2023 Laci noticed 2 bumps in the lymph nodes in her neck. We made an appt and we saw her pediatrician on 8/3. The Dr. told us to keep an eye on it and come back if they got larger or painful. They did get bigger and she went back on 8/29 and was placed on a round of antibiotics to see if that would help. It did not help and the one lump got visible larger sticking out of her neck and she started to have pain. We made another appt for 9/14 and the Dr. sent us straight to the ER to have a CT scan of her neck done. Once there the Dr there wanted a CT of her chest to check for lymphoma. We were told since there was no other area noticed in the CT scans to follow up with our Dr. to see a surgeon to have it removed and biopsied. I followed up the next day with her Dr. and we were referred to a surgeon, who contacted us on 9/19 for an appt on 9/26. The evening of 9/23 Laci came home from work early in so much pain and was barely able to lift her arm, we went straight to the ER. Once there the Dr. consulted via phone with a Dr. at Oakland Children’s and the next thing we knew, we were being transported to Oakland by ambulance. We were admitted and scheduled for surgery on 9/25 to get a biopsy. On 9/26 we were discharged home to recover wait on the results, which took forever. On 9/29 we were contacted and scheduled for a full body scan in San Francisco on 10/5. On 10/2 we were unable to control her pain level with the meds and contacted her Dr at Oakland Children’s since her pediatrician closed for good. We’re we’re then notified that Laci has Lymphoma but they didn’t know what type yet. Her Dr. sent her to the local ER for IV pain meds. On 10/5 we went for the full body scan and received some good news that day, that there was no other spots on the scan. On 10/9 we got the call that results were finally in and they wanted us to come the very next day to discuss it and that she would be admitted for a minimum of 3 days. On 10/10 we were told that Laci has Anaplastic Alk-positive Large Cell Lymphoma Of Lymph Node Of Neck. We were admitted and Laci will receive a few procedures (lumbar puncture and bone marrow sample) today along with her first round of chemo. Ron and I have both exhausted all of our vacation and sick time from work. Ron is the only one that qualifies for FMLA and as you know that doesn’t pay a well as working. We were told the treatment plan with chemo will take approximately 5 months, provided nothing new comes off the tests today. I will not be going back to work and will remain by Laci’s side till this is over. This is going to place a huge financial burden and we our asking for any help we can get please. Prayers, share’s, and donations so that we don’t have to worry about finances while trying to help our baby girl get through this. This is really tough on Laci as she has worked since she was 16, maintained her own car payment and car insurance and even graduated high school a year early! She was about to start a new job and attend a junior college this fall. For those not comfortable using the Go Fund Me, but wanting to donate please let us know and there are other ways as well. Thank you all for your love and support and we will update here within anything new.
