Life for Jordan Conquering Medical Expense
Donation protected
My name is Dylan, the youngest of Jordan’s three brothers, and I’m writing this on behalf of Jordan and our entire family. We ask for your help to financially support Jordan in covering the cost of the medical procedures, travel, lodging costs, and band-aids for whoever watches his cat, Cheeto, while he’s gone.
Leading up to September 2021, Jordan was enjoying a very active, healthy lifestyle. After a run, he noticed sudden and alarming symptoms that convinced him to visit a medical clinic. By the end of that week, he was in excruciating pain that would not let up. He’s had CT scans, MRI's, ultrasounds, blood work, everything doctors could try to understand the pain, yet nothing so far has been conclusive.
Most of his time now is spent in bed working and trying to keep his cat from pooping in the laundry hamper. He takes a lot of medication to deal with the pain, but it's seldom effective. He still experiences intense weeks-long pain flares, and his cat still sometimes poops in the laundry hamper.
The good news is that there is a path to diagnosis: he is likely suffering from a very rare but treatable form of neuralgia (severe pain due to an irritated or damaged nerve). The next step in the diagnostic process is a nerve block. Eventually, Jordan was referred to the Interventional Pain Clinic at St. Paul's hospital in Saskatoon for this procedure. The bad news is the wait, at referral, is 2 years.
To get relief from the pain and to perform the necessary diagnostic nerve block he looked abroad for answers, and found that the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota could perform this procedure without such a long wait. This, of course, comes at a staggering cost.
The last thing we want is for him to spend the next several years effectively bedridden and living in such pain. There are no other options to diagnose the type of pain he is dealing with. A positive diagnosis will advance his treatment timeline by years and give him a chance to return to a healthy quality of life.
Jordan’s personal message: Thank you very much for reading. I'm happy to answer more questions personally. Cheeto hissed at me so she will probably not be taking questions, but I can try.
Thank you for your help,
