Thank you for clicking on my story! For those that don’t know me, my name is Jason. I’m a single full-time parent as well as a small business owner. After years of selfless sacrifice and putting everybody’s needs before mine, I’m finally going to take care of myself and electing to have life-changing oral surgery. On September 30th, I’m going in for jaw surgery to correct my underbite.

After visiting with a maxillofacial surgeon, it was determined that I have a class three malocclusion underbite, which requires both the upper jaw and lower jaw to be cut and repositioned. The surgery is going to take anywhere between 4 to 6 hours. After the surgery, I will be hospitalized for 1-2 days, and I will have a lengthy recovery process.

During the recovery process, I will be unable to work for up to two weeks and unable to chew any food for the first eight weeks. I also will be restricted from lifting over 15 pounds during that time. To say that I am nervous is an understatement, but I feel it’s the best decision and feel at peace with the surgeon and excited to see the final results. The medical necessity is due to the severity of the underbite and the ongoing issues it has caused me over the years. I’ve suffered from severe acid reflux, GERD, choking, and having difficulty breathing after eating because I’m unable to chew my food properly. I can’t wait to smile and regain my confidence. Prayers are greatly appreciated, but with the insurance not covering the surgery, I would also appreciate any financial donations as well. Any donations given will go directly towards the cost of the surgery ($19,000) and the rest will hopefully cover all the specialty food that will need to be purchased while the jaw heals.
